Healing with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

A brief history of HBOT:
For more than 300 years, people have been breathing pressurized air for it's therapeutic effect. The use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy goes back as far as the 17th century in England where the very first pressurized chamber was built by a man named Henshaw. By the 18th century, compressed "hyperbaric" air was being used regularly for divers to treat "the bends."
We are moving into a new century filled with technological hope and unknown possibilities for the many medical and health related issues we face as a human race. Fortunately, we are also beginning to realize that the human body is a remarkably adept machine capable of self-repair if we give it the rest, nutrition and environmental conditions it needs to heal, which is where hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) fits into the equation.
Humans can live weeks without food, and days without water, but hardly more than 5 minutes without oxygen. Oxygen is required for continual operation and healing of our bodies. Worldwide research confirms that breathing 100% oxygen under pressure forces the oxygen into hard-to-reach tissues of infections, injuries, and sources of disease and assists the body in healing. When oxygen is breathed under slightly increased atmospheric pressure, it acts like a potent healing drug, with no adverse side affects.
